RC Audio Books Online

Audio books can be useful for a number of reasons. They're a good way for busy moms to "pre-read" books, and they're also good family fun and great in the car. They can also be helpful for students with dyslexia or vision problems. In the latter cases you may still prefer an audiobook, even if it's a substitute. So, depending on what's available, the subs provided below don't always match everything listed on the RC books page, but they are also good choices themselves.
All links are to human-read books. Some may be available as machine-read, but I don't think they're of good enough quality to put here. (Please let me know if I've accidentally linked to any machine-read books.)

Free Audiobook Sites - The following sites offer many more free audiobooks that are suitable for homeschool, or just for entertainment.
Librivox - Read by volunteers. New, clear recordings. Search by title or author, or by the word "Collection" to find a number of interesting collections sorted by category. (Children's Short Works, Long Poems, Young Adult, and many more.)
Lit2Go - Small, but growing selection of children's audio books.
Project Gutenberg - Often these are just the Librivox recordings.
LearnOutLoud.com - Requires free account to download the free files (no credit card required). They offer many free resources, including audiobooks, literature (and other) podcasts, audio and video courses, documentaries, and other learning resources. (Plus links to audiobooks to purchase.) There's also a "free" kids audio section, but it often has not-free stuff mixed in too.

More audio sites you may enjoy, but ones where you probably won't find RC material.
Kiddie Records - Free kid's stories and songs. Fun selections include Disney, Dr. Seuss, fairy tales, Christmas, and much more.
Children's Vinyl Record Series - More free kid's stories and music. Includes fairy tales, Shakespeare, Gilbert and Sullivan, and lots more.
Old Time Radio Downloads - The kids section has many radio shows such as "Let's Pretend," "The Cinnamon Bear," and "Little Orphan Annie."
Check you Local Library - And their web site. Not only do they often have cd audiobooks to borrow, many now offer audiobooks to download or stream, and some also offer MP3 players for checkout. The library's great for newer titles not found free online.

You can volunteer at Librivox, as a reader or proof-listener!
